East Meadow, N.Y. - The Post University women's hockey team lost a 7-1 New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) game to Long Island University on Friday afternoon.
The Eagles are now 3-19-1 overall and 3-11-1 in NEWHA. The Sharks move to 13-10-2 overall and 12-1-2 in the conference.
The Sharks scored one in the first from Bri Eid and another at the 4:40 mark in the second period from Anna Fairman before the Eagles got on the board with
Cassidy Elvidge scoring her first goal of the season.
On the Post goal, Elvidge took the possession on the faceoff won by
Tymmarie Grom and ripped a shot from the net past LIU goaltender Annie Anderson to make it a 2-1 game at the 5:47 mark.
LIU's Megan Bouveur would score two of her three goals in the second period as the Sharks took a 4-1 lead. They'd add three more in the third period, including the third from Bouveur. She also added an assist on the day.
Grace Glasrud stopped 37 shots in net for the Eagles.
With her assist, Grom now has four points in her last two games with two goals and two assists.
Tristan Currie won nine faceoffs on the day. Grom won six.
The two teams meet again on Saturday, this time the Eagles will host the Sharks in Shelton, CT at 6:15 p.m.
