Volleyball Loses Non-Conference Match To Bentley

Waltham, Ma. - The Post University volleyball team lost a 3-0 (16-25, 23-25, 7-25) non-conference match to Bentley on Friday evening.

Post is now 5-12 overall. Bentley moves to 13-4.

Lydimar Soto led the Eagles with five kills. She also had two blocks. Maria Fernanda Branco had one ace and 16 assists to go along with 11 digs.

After trailing 4-3 early in the first set, the Eagles scored five straight, as the Falcons had four attack errors to put the Eagles up 8-4. A 9-2 run from the Falcons put them up 13-10. After an ace by Branco made it a 13-12 Bentley lead, the Falcons scored eight straight to take a commanding 21-13 lead, eventually taking a 1-0 match lead.

Trailing 8-5 in the second, the Eagles scored four of the next five points, including kills by Branco and Soto to tie the game at 9-9. Bentley went back up 17-13, but the Eagles chipped away, tying the game at 22-22, with kills by Zara McCauley and Aniya Goodman capping the run with back-to-back kills. The Falcons scored the next two points, and the Eagles were able to prevent the first set point, but a kill by Bentley's Ingrid Murphy gave the Falcons the 2-0 lead.

Bentley used a 12-0 run to take care of the Eagles in the final set.

Kaitlyn Lemmon had four blocks to lead the Eagles.

Ellie Wheeler had ten kills to lead Bentley. Amanda Parker had 16 assists and 13 digs.

Up next, the Eagles head to Caldwell to take on the Cougars in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match at 5 p.m. on Oct. 5.
