Rutherford, N.J. – Led by ten kills and 11 digs from
Lydimar Soto and 29 assists from
Maria Fernanda Branco, the Post University women's volleyball team beat Felician, 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-20) in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Wednesday.
Post is now 5-11 overall and 3-5 in the CACC on the season.
Post conceded the first three points in set one, eventually tying the match at six before going on a 6-0 run to take a commanding 12-6 lead as Soto had two kills in the run. Post led 22-17 before the Golden Falcons rallied, taking five of the next six points to cut the Eagles' lead to 23-22, but an attack error by Felician and an ace from
Alyssa Groves gave the Eagles the 1-0 match lead.
In set two, Post led by as much as five points at 20-15 before Felician scored the next five to tie the match. The Eagles stopped the run and finished with a 5-1 run to end the set as
Colleen Romero had two kills, and Groves once again ending the set with an ace.
Down 8-6 in the third, the Eagles scored six straight to go up 12-8 behind two kills from Soto and one by
Aniya Goodman. After Felician (1-16, 1-6 CACC) rallied to take a one-point lead on three separate occasions. However with the Golden Falcons leading 20-19, the Eagles scored the final six points to take the match, as Soto and Goodman again made timely kills during the run to go along with an ace from
Amaya Nsubuga.
Romero had nine kills.
Zara McCauley had four, while Goodman had four blocks.
Hannah Chiswick led Felician with 11 kills and two aces.
Up next, the Eagles travel to Bentley to take on the Falcons on September 30 at 6 p.m.
