Waterbury, Conn. – It was a game of firsts for a few of the members of the men's soccer team as
Nicholas Anagnostiadis and
Carles Aliberch scored their first goals of the season and
Soren Jensen had his first shutout of the season as the Eagles defeated Felician, 3-0 at LaMoy Field in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game on Wednesday.
Post is now 6-3 overall and 4-1 in the CACC. Felician moves to 4-3-3 overall and 1-2-2 in the conference.
It took just 17 minutes for the Eagles to get on the board at
Artiz Uriate Alonso took a feed from
Stephen Sprowson inside the box to record his second goal of the season.
In the 42
nd minute, Anagnostiadis took advantage of a loose ball after Felician goalkeeper Pedro Bonfa tried to clear it. The ball bounced in front of Anagnostiadis who volleyed the ball 30 yards over the head of Bonfa for his first goal of the season.
Post took the 2-0 lead into the half. The two teams remained scores through most of the second half as the Eagles commanded control of the ball most of the time. In the 88
th minute,
Alberto Solaeta took the ball down the right side of the field, fed the ball into the box to
Angel Morales. Morales then headed the ball to an open Aliberch who found the back of the net for his first of the season.
Soren Jensen, making his first start in net of the season, had two saves on the day including a point-blank header he knocked over the net to prevent Felician from scoring.
The Eagles outshot Felician, 14-8 and the Eagles only gave up two shots on goal.
The Eagles have won the last three matches against Felician, shutting them out in the last two meetings.
