Volleyball Loses To Bridgeport In CACC Match

Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University women's volleyball team lost a 3-0 (19-25, 19-25, 26-28) match to the University of Bridgeport in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match on Tuesday evening at the Drubner Center.
 
It was the first match as CACC opponents between the two teams.
 
Madelynn Boop led the way with eight kills for the Eagles, while Lydimar Soto at had seven. Kaitlyn Lemmon had five kills and two blocks.
 
In set one, after trailing 10-8, the Eagles scored five straight, including kills from Boop and Izabella Rae. Bridgeport answered with five straight of their own to go back up 15-13. The Purple Knights would go up 22-17 late and close out the set, scoring the final three points of the match.
 
Set two saw the Eagles take an 8-6 lead after trailing by one on a kill from Zara McCauley and an ace from Aniya Goodman. Later in the set, Post cut a 20-16 deficit to 20-18 on kills from Boop and Lemmon. However, Bridgeport scored five of the last six points to take the set.
 
In a thrilling third set, the Eagles jumped out to an 8-2 lead, including four straight points capped by a kill from Goodman. Bridgeport answered with the next eight, with three kills coming from Lucia Tomiello to make it a 10-8 game. Once again, the Eagles took a 13-12 lead, but Bridgeport responded with five straight, including three consecutive kills from Paola Hernandez.
 
With the Eagles trailing 23-21, they scored three straight to make it 24-23. The Eagles had a shot to take the set on three different occasions, but Bridgeport scored the final three points to take the match.
 
Marissa Mullins led Bridgeport with 16 kills, Hernandez had 12. Jaden Drollinger had 35 assists.
 
Up next, the Eagles are right back in action on Wednesday with a CACC road match at Felician beginning at 7 p.m.
