Flushing, N.Y. – The Post University men's tennis team competed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional tournament over the weekend.
In singles,
James Vincent advanced to the round of 16. After receiving a bye into the second round, Vincent defeated teammate
Tobias Strauss, 6-0, 6-1, advancing him to the round of 32. In that round, he topped Roni Rikkonen of Queens, 6-3, 7-6(5). Vincent lost in the round of 16 to Ethan Miller of Le Moyne, 6-2, 6-3.
Jose Nunez advanced to the round of 64 after a first-round win over John Bruno of Dominican, 8-2. Strauss won his highly competitive first round match over Justin Lenz of Dominican, 9-8(8) before his loss to Vincent.
Gustavo Kerber, who received a bye in the first round lost to Rikkonen, 6-2, 6-3.
In doubles, the Eagles had three of their duos win in the round of 64. Kerber and
Niklas Langenfeld won a 9-8(2) match over Lennart Lehmann and Ivain Laiz of Saint Thomas Aquinas.
Anton Andersson and
Josh Cronje both took down Bruno and Lenz of Dominican, 8-1, while Vincent and
Cooper Smith defeated Joshua Arnold and Preston Gordon of Franklin Pierce, 8-1.
