Women’s Volleyball Falls In Five Sets To Bloomfield In CACC North Tilt

Bloomfield, N.J. – The Post University women's volleyball team lost a 3-2 (25-19, 16-25, 24-26, 25-22, 15-12) match to Bloomfield in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play on Wednesday evening.
 
Madelynn Boop led the way for the Eagles with 11 kills. Lydimar Soto had nine kills and two aces, while Maria Fernanda Branco had a team-high 28 assists and four digs.
 
Post now sits at 4-9 overall and 2-3 in the CACC. Bloomfield is now 5-4 overall and 4-0 in the CACC.
 
Post took the first set after jumping out to an 11-3 lead with the final three points of the run coming on kills from Colleen Romero and two from Boop. Bloomfield got to within four at 23-19, but Post slammed the door, scoring the final two points, including a kill from Aniya Goodman and a block from Romero and Boop. Boop had four of her kills in the first set.
 
After the two teams split the first 24 points in set two, the Bears finished on a 13-4 run to take the set to tie the match, 1-1.
 
The Eagles survived a 7-0 run from the Bears in set three, eventually making it to set point at 24-23 before the Bears scored the final three points. Branco, Boop and Goodman each had two kills in the set.
 
Post pushed the Bears to a fifth set after coming back from a 20-14 deficit in the fourth, finishing on an 11-2 run, with Boop coming up with two kills and an ace to go along with a kill from Soto.
 
In the fifth and final set, the lead swapped three times before the Bears scored five of the last seven points. Boop had two kills in the set.
 
Goodman finished with seven kills, two aces and two blocks. Romero had three blocks on the day to lead the Eagles.
 
Bloomfield''s Jaizahir Marrero had 12 kills to lead her team, while Desiree Cruz had 11.
 
Up next, the Eagles head to Georgian Court to take on the Lions on Friday at 4 p.m.
