Men's Soccer Scores Twice In Second Half To Top Holy Family

Waterbury, Conn. - The Post University men's soccer team scored two goals in the second half enroute to a 2-0 win over Holy Family in the team's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener on Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field.

Its the second straight win for the Eagles, who have not allowed a goal in its last two games.

Post dominated play the entire game and finally broke through in the 61st minute as Antoine Trifonov headed in a corner kick from Carles Aliberch to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead.

Post continued to pressure the Tigers defense all game and was rewarded with a free kick in the 84th minute as Sergio Sanchez wrapped a shot around the Holy Family four-man wall into the lower right of the net to give Post the 2-0 lead.

The Eagles (3-2, 1-0 CACC) outshot Holy Family (1-4-0, 0-1-0 CACC) 24-6 on the day, with Artiz Uriate Alonso leading the way with seven shots.

David Mollenthiel notched his second straight shutout with five saves. He now has 13 shutouts in his career.

Up next, the head to Goldey-Beacom to take on the Lightning on Saturday, September 17 at 3:30 p.m. in a CACC tilt.
