Baseball Put Stronghold In CACC North In Sweep Of Felician

Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University baseball team put a stronghold on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division, sweeping and shutting out Felician, 10-0 and 2-0 on Sunday at Municipal Stadium.

The Eagles are now 19-23 overall and 14-6 in the CACC. Felician is now 18-19 overall and 11-8 in the CACC.

In game one, Joe Christiana pitched a seven-inning complete game, allowing just five hits and two walks while striking out five. He is 4-0 on the season.

the Eagles broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third on an RBI groundout from Michael Pavelchak and an RBI double from Jimmy Brennan.

Brennan added another RBI double during a four-run fifth inning, as the Eagles took a 6-0 lead. Nate Miller had a two-run single in the inning and Evan Cornwell had an RBI single.

Post put the game away via the mercy rule in the bottom of the seventh, scoring four more runs, two on bases loaded walks. Hunter Keller ended the game with a two-run single, making it a 10-0 game.

Keller and Pavelchak were 1-for-4 with two RBI and a run. Brennan was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run. Jordan Glazer was 2-for-4 with two runs and Miller was 2-for-2 with two RBI, two runs and two walks.

In game two, the Eagles pitching staff struck out ten batters, including eight from starter Dan Raglievich in their second straight shutout win. Jacob Tamburrino earned the win, and Matt Goehrig picked up his second save of the season.

Miller got the Eagles on the board in the bottom of the fifth with his fifth homer of the season. Robert Olah – the CACC leader in RBI – had an RBI double in the sixth. He now has 58 RBI on the season.

Up next, the Eagles host Caldwell on Wednesday, April 27 in a CACC North battle at 3 p.m.
