Eagles Baseball Split With Wilmington In Battle Of CACC Top Teams

Wilmington, De. – In a battle of the top teams in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), the Post University baseball team split a doubleheader with Wilmington on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles took game one, 6-4 before the Wildcats won game two, 12-3.

The Eagles, the top team in the CACC North are now 17-23 overall and 12-6 in the CACC. Wilmington is 22-8 overall and 14-3 in the CACC, leading the South Division.

Post fell behind 2-0 after the third inning, but responded with two in the top of the fourth to tie the game as Jordan Glazer hit an RBI single to score Jimmy Brennan followed by a balk that scored Robert Olah.

Olah would then follow up in the top of the fifth with a three-run homer in the top of the fifth, his ninth of the season to give Post the 5-2 lead.

Shane Lindemuth added an RBI double in the sixth.

John Mead hit a two-run  homer for the Wildcats in the bottom of the sixth, but it would be the last runs the Wildcats would score.

Olah finished 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI.

Nico Gaudio earned the win for Post, pitching five innings, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out six. Matt Goehrig earned his first save of the season, striking out two in one inning of work.

In game two, Post took an early 1-0 lead on an RBI fielder's choice from Olah. However, the Wildcats scored three in the bottom of the inning and gave the big blow in the bottom of the second on a grand slam from Shawn Haut.

Down 8-1 in the fourth, the Eagles rallied to score two more on an RBI single from Glazer and a bases loaded hit by pitch from Lindemuth. The Eagles had the bases loaded in the inning, but were unable to get another run across.

Wilmington added three more in the bottom of the fifth on a three-run homer from JJ Killen and a solo homer from Mead in the sixth.

Up next, the Eagles take on Felician in a CACC doubleheader at Municipal Stadium, beginning at 2 p.m.
