Bensalem, Pa. – The Post University softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader (CACC) with Holy Family on Wednesday afternoon. After dropping game one, 7-3, the Eagles rallied to win game two, 11-6.
Post now sits at 16-16 on the season and 10-10 in the CACC, good for sixth in the conference.
In the game two win, the Eagles broke a scoreless tie on RBI singles from Juliana Cicala and Caitlin DeAngelis to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead. After a wild plate scored Cicala, an Alexa Pacy ground out scored DeAngelis, giving the Eagles a 4-0 lead.
The Tigers rallied in the bottom of the inning on a two-run homer by Sam Ciasullo before DeAngelis responded with a three-run homer of her own in the top of the fifth after Kasey Jusino doubled and Cicala singled to lead off the inning. It was the fifth home run of the season for DeAngelis.
Holy Family cut the Post lead to 7-4, but the Eagles scored two-more in the sixth to take a 9-4 lead.
With the Eagles leading 9-6 heading into the seventh, Jazmin Andrews hit a sacrifice fly and Bailee Zaccaro hit a two-run double for insurance.
Maddison Caldwell earned the win for the Eagles, her sixth of the season.
DeAngelis finished the game 2-for-4 with five RBI. Cicala was 4-for-4 with an RBI and two runs. Jusino was 2-for-5 with three runs. Zaccaro was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI.
In the game one loss, the Eagles lead 3-1 before the Tigers scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 7-3 lead.
Post got on the board first, as Cicala hit an RBI single to score Jusino, who walked. The Eagles added one more run in the fourth on an RBI double from Courtney Brobst and one more in the fifth on an RBI groundout from Jusino.
Ciasullo hit a three-run home run for the Tigers (9-28, 4-10 CACC) to highlight their sixth inning.
Up next, the Eagles host University of the Sciences on Friday, April 22 in a doubleheader at LaMoy Field, beginning at 2 p.m.
