Hillburn, N.Y. – The Post University men's lacrosse team lost a heartbreaking 13-12 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game to Dominican on Wednesday afternoon.
Post is now 4-7 overall and 2-3 in the CACC.
Braedan Lockyer led the way for the Eagles with five goals while Dylan Heald and Robbie McGrayne each had a pair.
After surrendering the first goal of the game, Lockyer scored back-to-back goals and assisted on McGrayne's first of the game to give Post a 3-1 lead before Dominican scored twice in the final 19 seconds of the quarter to tie the game at 3-3.
Dominican (6-5, 3-2 CACC) took a 5-3 lead halfway through the second, before Heald and Nick Meier scored to tie the game at 5-5 heading into the half.
The Eagles took a 9-8 lead at the end of three, behind two more goals from Lockyer, one more from McGrayne and one from Justin Nogueira.
Both teams were tied at 11 with under a minute left in regulation before Heald scored with 39 seconds left, giving Post the 12-11 lead. However, Daniel Carson of Dominican would tie the game just 22 seconds later, sending the game into overtime. In overtime, Carson took a pass from Terence O'Loughlin with 2:43 left and scored his fourth goal of the game to give the Chargers the win.
Lockyer finished with six points on the day. Heald also added two assists to his total for a four-point performance. John Carr had 21 saves in net for the Eagles.
Up next, the Eagles play their final regular season game of the season, hosting Wilmington for senior day on April 23 at noon at LaMoy Field.
