Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University men's lacrosse team lost an 18-7 game to Wilmington in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Saturday afternoon.
The loss ended the Eagles' season, as they finished 4-8 overall and 2-4 in the CACC.
Wilmington scored the first two goals of the game before Nick Meier got the Eagles on the board, cutting Post's deficit in half. Robbie McGrayne tacked on a goal in the first quarter as the Wildcats took a 5-2 lead into the second.
The Wildcats (10-3, 6-0 CACC) would lead 6-2 early in the second before the Eagles scored three straight goals as Justin Nogueira, Braedan Lockyer and Dylan Heald each scored, making it a 6-5 game. Wilmington answered with four straight and took a 10-5 lead into the half.
After Heald scored the opening goal of the third, the Wildcats scored the next six, including the final four of the third quarter to take a 16-6 lead. Heald added one more goal in the fourth.
Jake Copio and Giovanni Marino each finished with four goals for Wilmington.
Post finished its season with the highest win total for the program since 2017, when they went 5-8.
Four Eagles finished the season with more than 20 goals with Lockyer leading with 26. Meier finished with 25, McGrayne had 24 and Heald had 22.
Lockyer also finished the season leading the team in assists with 19, which was ninth in the CACC.
