Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University baseball team left no doubt in a 14-3, 19-1 doubleheader sweep of Nyack on Saturday afternoon at Municipal Stadium in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.
In game one, the Eagles put up four runs on the board in the top of the first, highlighted by an RBI triple by Jordan Glazer and an RBI single from Hunter Keller to star the scoring.
The Warriors (0-19, 0-15 CACC) got one back in the bottom of the inning, but the Eagles began to pull away in the top of the second thanks to a two-run homer from Robert Olah, giving the Eagles a 7-1 lead.
Post scored two more in the third on RBI singles by Brycin Hernandez and Michael Pavelchak, and put the game away in the top of the fifth, as Hernandez hit an RBI triple and an RBI single from Glazer.
Olah finifhed the game 2-for-3 with four RBI and a run. Glazer was 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs. Pavelchak was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Chris Corchado scored two runs and Hernandez was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Joe Christiana got the win and is 3-0 on the season. He gave up just three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out six.
In game two, the Eagles had their highest run output of the season, again jumping out to an early 2-0 lead, the final run in the inning coming from an RBI double from Olah.
Another three runs in the fifth four in the fourth and three more in the fifth gave the Eagles a 12-0 lead. Hernandez had two RBI singles during the two-inning stretch and Corchado drove in two and Olah had two sacrifice flies during the stretch. Olah would also add a two-run single in the sixth inning, staking the Eagles to a 13-0 lead.
Post (15-21, 11-4 CACC) added six more runs of insurance in the seventh, two coming on bases loaded walks, while Pavelchak, Olah and Kelvin Gutierrez each drove in runs on RBI singles.
Olah finished the game 4-for-4 with a run and six RBI. Hernandez was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Corchado was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Pavelchak was 3-for-4 with four runs and an RBI. Glazer was 2-for-2 with an RBI and four runs.
The Eagles currently sit in first place in the CACC North Division.
