Jusino's Bat, Koref's Pitching Lead Eagles To Third Straight CACC Split

Newark, Del. -  The Post University softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader with Wilmington University on Friday afternoon, winning game one, 2-1 before dropping game two, 4-1.

Post is now 15-15 overall and 9-9 in the CACC, putting the team in sixth place. The third place Wildcats are now 23-15 overall and 11-3 in the CACC.

Post jumped on the board early in game one, as Samantha Riccardulli led off the inning with a single. After the next two batters got out, Allyson Wallauer drew a walk, setting the stage for Kasey Jusino, who doubled to score both Wallauer and Riccardulli.

Brianna Koref pitched six scoreless innings to start the game and allowed just one unearned run in the seventh and left the tying run on third after they got there with one out. She earned her team-leading ninth win of the season.

In game two, the Eagles again struck first, this time on a single from that allowed Riccardulli to score after a throwing error on the play.

However, it'd be the lone run the Eagles would get on the day as Wilmington tied the game in the third and took the lead in the fourth on an RBI double from Kiersten Comer, followed by an RBI single from Courtney Dellinger. The Wildcats would tack on one more in the fifth.

Caitlin DeAngelis and Wallauer both finished game two, 2-for-3.

On the mound, Maddison Caldwell pitched a complete game, striking out one, allowing four runs on nine hits.

Up next, the Eagles host American International College in a non-conference doubleheader on April 19, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
