Eagles Bats Come Alive In Game Two In CACC Split

Rutherford, N.J.- The Post University softball team split a doubleheader against Bloomfield in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup. Post dropped game one, 6-2 and winning game two, 12-4.

In game two, the Eagles (14-14, 8-8 CACC) rallied from a 4-1 deficit, including a seven-run fifth inning.

All of the Eagles' hits in the fifth inning were for extra bases as Kathryn Peterson led off the inning with a triple and was driven in by Bailee Zaccaro on an RBI double. Allyson Wallauer followed with a two-run home run to tie the game at 4-4. It was her seventh home run of the season.

After a double from Kasey Jusino, an error off the bat of Alexa Pacy plated Jusino, giving the Eagles a 5-4 lead. Julianna Rigano followed with a two-run triple putting the Eagles up 7-4. They'd add one more on a passed ball.

The runs kept coming in the sixth as Lily Tomasiello was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Pacy added a sacrifice fly before Samantha Riccardulli capped the inning with a two-run single.

Zaccaro was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Wallauer was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Riccardulli was 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run. Pacy had two RBI and two runs.

Maddison Caldwell pitched a complete game, allowing four earned runs, striking out one for her fifth win of the season.

In game one loss, Bloomfield scored two in the first before the Eagles got on the board on an RBI single in the top of the second.

The Bears (11-22, 9-7 CACC) added one more run in the fourth and three in the fifth to take a 6-1 lead.

Post added one more run in the sixth on a groundout from Juliana Cicala.

Brianna Koref pitched a complete game for the Eagles, striking out one.

Up next, the Eagles stay on the road, playing Wilmington in CACC play, beginning at 11 a.m. on April 15.
