Cassiliano Scores Hat Trick In Women's Lacrosse CACC Loss

Waterbury, Conn. - Morgan Cassiliano scored a hat trick as the Post University women's lacrosse team lost a 22-7 game to Jefferson in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play on Sunday afternoon.

The Eagles are now 4-9 overall and 3-3 in the CACC.

It was the tenth game this season Cassiliano scored at least three goals in a game, increasing her school record to 55 goals in a single season. She broke the school record on April 5 against Felician.

Cassiliano took advantage of an early penalty from the Rams, scoring a goal on a free shot attempt, giving Post the 1-0 lead at the 14:21 mark. 

Jefferson scored the next three before Cassiliano scored her second of the game, making it a 3-2 Rams lead. However, the Rams scored the next nine to take a commanding 12-3 lead. 

Molly Dobratz and Gabrielle Fiora would each score goals before the half as Jefferson went into the break leading 14-4. 

The Rams scored the first five goals of the second half before the Eagles answered with the next three as Cara Distefano scored twice along with the third from Cassiliano to begin the fourth.

Jefferson (8-3, 6-0 CACC) would score the final three goals of the game. Erin Avanzato scored five goals to lead Jefferson, Audrey Strock and Carina Raymond each had four.

Up next, the Eagles play at Dominican on April 13 at 4 p.m.
