Sparkill, N.Y. - Robbie McGrayne scored seven goals to tie a school record as the Post University men's lacrosse team defeated Saint Thomas Aquinas College (STAC), 16-10 on Tuesday afternoon.
After conceding the first goal of the game in the first minute, Post scored the next seven as McGrayne scored three and
Nick Meier scored two to make it a 7-1 game at the 13:17 mark of the second quarter.
Post took a 9-4 lead into the half as
Dylan Heald and
Braedan Lockyer scored the final two goals for the Eagles in the second.
STAC attempted to rally in the second half, cutting the Post lead to three at three different times, but McGrayne took over in the fourth, scoring three goals, while
Justin Nogueira tacked on a goal.
McGrayne's seven goals tied Alex Brownlee who scored seven goals in a game against Alderson Broaddus in 2014.
Nogueira, Lockyer, Meier and
Brendan Kelleher all finished with two goals for the Eagles. Kelleher also added three assists on the day. Nogueira and Lockyer each had two, as did Heald.
Russell Robinson had eight saves in net for the Eagles in his first win.
The win was also the first win as Eagles head coach for
John Jez.
