Waterbury, Conn. – Morgan Cassiliano set a school record with ten goals as the Post University women's lacrosse team defeated Nyack, 23-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Wednesday afternoon.
Cassiliano's ten goals breaks the previous record of nine held by Toni Deren in the 2016 season. The win was also the largest margin of victory in school history.
The Eagles jumped out with an early goal as Athlyn Wood scored the first goal of the game just 33 seconds into the game. Cassiliano started her scoring binge just 30 seconds later and would score two more in the quarter as the Eagles took an 8-0 lead. Wood scored her second goal of the game while Cara DiStefano scored twice and one from Lexi Levy in the quarter.
Post extended its lead to 15-1 at the half as Cassiliano scored two more as did Hailey McHenry. Wood scored her third and final goal of the game and Gabrielle Fiora scored her fifth goal of the season.
The Eagles continued their dominance in the second half as Cassiliano scored five goals, including the record-breaking goal with 3:09 in the fourth after scoring the record-tying goal with 5:21 left. Molly Dobratz, Samantha Targonski and Raniya Bruton-Moore each scored in the second half.
Cassiliano also added two assists. McHenry had three assists to go along with her two goals. DiStefano had two assists.
Also setting a school-record was Targonski, who won 18 draw controls.
