Newark, N.J. – The Post University baseball team allowed just two hits and used a five-run ninth inning in a 6-0 win over Bloomfield in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Wednesday afternoon.
Chas Cywin started, pitching three innings, allowing just one hit, two walks and a strikeout. Jacob Tamburrino struck out six in the final six innings of work, earning the win. Twice in the game Tamburrino struck out two in an inning.
After a pitchers' duel through the first five innings, the Eagles (7-16, 3-1 CACC) broke through with the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly from Jimmy Brennan, scoring Michael Pavelchak who walked to lead off the inning.
The Eagles would score more than enough insurance runs in the top of the ninth. After Brycin Hernandez doubled with an out, Pavelchak and Shane Lindemuth both walked to load the bases for Brennan. Brenann ripped a single to left field, scoring Pavelchak and Hernandez as Lindemuth was thrown out at the plate. Robert Olah followed with an RBI single to score Brennan.
Nate Miller followed and iced the game with his third homer of the season, a two-run shot.
Palvelchak walked four times, scoring a run. Brennan finished 1-for-4 with three RBI and a run. Olah was 2-for-5 with an RBI and run.
Up next, the Eagles head to Philadelphia to take on the University of the Sciences on April 12, beginning at noon.
