Sparkill, N.Y. – The Post University women's lacrosse team had three players score at least three goals in a 16-11 loss to Saint Thomas Aquinas College (STAC) on Wednesday afternoon.
Morgan Cassiliano led the way for the Eagles with four goals, a day after scoring eight against Caldwell. Cara Distefano and Molly Dobratz each had a hat trick.
Dobratz and Cassiliano scored back-to-back goals in the first to give the Eagles (2-6) an early 2-0 lead. The teams would end the first 5-5, after Distefano scored her first and Cassiliano scored two more.
Distefano scored two more in the second and Dobratz had one as the teams also were tied at the half at 8-8.
The Spartans scored an opening goal 22 seconds into the second half before Samantha Targonski scored her first of the game at the 10:36 mark for the sixth tie of the game.
However, the Spartans (2-4) scored the next six goals, including five in the fourth to take a 15-9 lead.
Dobratz and Cassiliano would each score in the final quarter.
It was the seventh multi-goal game for Cassiliano this season who has 31 on the season, second in the CACC. She also had two assists on the day, as did Gabrielle Fiora.
Distefano has three games of three or more goals in a game and has 12 on the season. It was the second hat trick of the season for Dobratz on the season. She now has 11 on the season.
Christina Badaracco had a season-high 17 saves.
Up next the Eagles head to Wilmington to take out the Wildcats in CACC play on March 26 at 1 p.m.
