Post University men's basketball player Devonte McCall was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-East Region second team while head men's basketball coach Marc Kuntz was named the East Region Coach of the Year.
McCall has racked up the postseason awards this season as he was also named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player and Defensive Player of the Year while also making the All-CACC First Team as well as being named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-East Region First Team. He is the first Post University player ever to be named to an All-NABC team.
McCall finished the season fifth in the CACC in scoring at 19.3 ppg, second in blocks with 59, fourth in total points with 541, ninth in rebounds per game at 9.5 and third in field goals made with 211.
McCall scored in double figures in 27 of his 28 games he played this season. He also had 11 games where he scored 20 points or more, including a career-high 34 points in a win over Bridgeport on November 14. He also had five double-doubles this season and a career-high 18 rebounds against Southern Connecticut State University in the first game of the season.
Six times this season, he was named CACC Defensive Player of the Week and twice he was named CACC Player of the Week.
This is the second Coach of the Year honor Kuntz has won this season, as he also was named CACC Coach of the Year. Kuntz guided the Eagles to a 20-9 overall record and a 15-2 CACC record as Post captured its third ever regular season title and first since 2007-2008. The Eagles set a school record this season, winning ten straight games and also won its first ten CACC games this season. Kuntz is the first Post University men's basketball coach to win the honor.
