Men’s Lacrosse Rallies From Seven Goal Deficit To Defeat Georgian Court In CACC Opener

Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University men's lacrosse team rallied from a seven-goal deficit and scored a game-winning goal with 22 seconds left in a 15-14 win over Georgian Court in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Saturday afternoon.

The win was the second straight for the Eagles who are 3-3 overall and 1-0 in the CACC.

Dylan Heald was the hero of the game, scoring the game winner for his fourth goal of the game.

Nick Meier tied a school-record with seven goals in the game, which was also tied recently by Robbie McGrayne.

Post fell behind 7-0 after the first before Heald scored his first goal of the game with 6:14 left in the second. Heald would score one more in the half and Meier would score his first before the Lions scored with seven seconds left to lead 9-3 going into the half.

After the Lions scored the opening goal in the second half, the Eagles began their rally as two goals from Meier one from Heald and one from Justin Nogueira made it a 10-7 game. GCU answered with two straight before Kelleher and Meier each scored in the final 2:32 of the third to make it a 12-9 GCU lead heading into the fourth.

Braedan Lockyer scored his lone goal of the game to kick off the fourth. After two goals from the Lions with a Meier goal sandwiched in between, the Eagles started a furious rally in the final 4:41.

Down 14-11, Meier scored his sixth of the game, and just 29 seconds later scored his seventh, making it a 14-13, GCU lead. With 3:19 remaining, Nogueira took a pass from Lockyer and scored his second of the game, tying it up before Heald's heroics with 22 seconds left for the only lead of the game for the Eagles.

Lockyer and McGrayne each finished with three assists. Heald  Brendan Kelleher and Nogueira each had two.

Russell Robinson earned the win in net, with eight saves in just over 43 minutes of action.

Up next, the Eagles head to Felcian to take on the Golden Falcons at noon on March 23.
