Baseball Rallies Late, But Falls To SCSU In Extra Innings

Lantana, FL. – The Post University baseball team rallied to take a late lead but ultimately lost a 6-5 game in ten innings to Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon to conclude the team's Spring Break Trip.

With the Eagles trailing 4-2 heading to the bottom of the ninth, Kelvin Gutierrez reached first on a dropped third strike to begin the inning. After a flyout, Hunter Keller reached on an error on the second baseman, putting runners on second and third.

Jimmy Brennan came to the plate, driving a single to center to score Gutierrez and Keller to tie the game at 4-4.

After a single from Robert Olah, Nate Miller hit a sacrifice fly to score Brennan, giving the Eagles the 5-4 lead.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Owls scored on a bases loaded hit by pitch, tying the game at 5-5. Michael Kennedy was able to get out of the jam, getting the final batter out on a line out to right with the bases loaded.

In the top of the tenth, Jordan Glazer doubled to center, but was left stranded.

In the bottom of the inning, SCSU's Zach Bedryczuk led off the inning with an infield single. After a fielder's choice by Tony Zambito, Billy Sullivan tripled to center to score Zambito, winning the game for the Owls.

Post (4-15) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Brennan, who scored Michael Pavelchak who walked to lead off the game.

The Owls (13-3) answered with one in the bottom of the second and three in the third.

Post scored one in the seventh on an RBI single from Pavelchak, who brought home Gutierrez, who tripled to lead off the inning.

Brennan was 3-for-5 with three RBI and a run. Keller was 2-for-4 with a run.

On the mound, Jacob Tamburrino struck out three in four innings.

Up next, the Eagles kick off Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play with a home game against Nyack at 3 p.m. on March 22
