Men's Lacrosse Jumps Out To Big Lead, Defeats AIC

Springfield, Mass. – The Post University men's lacrosse team scored the first five goals and never looked back, defeating American International College (AIC) 14-9 in a non-conference game on Wednesday afternoon.

The win moves the Eagles to 2-3 on the season.

Post got on the board at the 8:59 mark on a goal from Braden Lockyer – the first of four – to put Post up, 1-0. Dylan Heald scored a man up goal at the 3:49 mark, putting the Eagles up 2-0 after the first quarter.

Robbie McGrayne scored twice in the second quarter, both on assists from Lockyer, who scored one himself in the period to take the 5-0 lead.

After AIC got on the board at 1:08, Hayden Hindman scored a goal just before the halftime whistle to put the Eagles up, 6-1 heading into halftime.

Lockyer scored his third goal of the game to kick off the scoring for the Eagles in the second half before the Yellow Jackets rallied and cut the Eagles lead to 8-6 with 39 seconds left.

However, the Eagles would score twice in the final 22 seconds, the first by Devin Bolyea and the final from Lockyer, who scored as the buzzer sounded to put Post back up 10-6 heading into the fourth.

Post scored four of the first five goals of the fourth quarter, including two from Nick Meier to go up 14-7 and put the game away.

Lockyer had three assists has part of his seven-point day. It was his third game this season of three or more goals.

McGrayne finished with two goals and two assists. Heald scored twice and Meier had two goals and an assists. Justin Nogueira also had a goal and assist.

Lockyer now has 12 goals, tying him for sixth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC).
