Shelton, Conn. – The Post University women's hockey team lost a 5-2 New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) game on Friday evening at The Rinks At Shelton.
The Eagles are now 5-19-0 overall and 2-11-0 in NEWHA.
After a scoreless first period, the Hawks got on the board first on a goal from Margaret Sullivan, but just 15 seconds later off the ensuing faceoff,
Sheridan Terrazzano picked up a loose puck along the boards and shot it stick side past Saint Anselm (9-11-3, 6-5-3 NEWHA) goaltender, Allie Kelley to tie the game at 1-1. It was Terrazzano's second goal of the season.
The Hawks added one more goal in the period to take a 2-1 lead heading into the third period.
After the Hawks scored three goals in the third to take a 5-1 lead, the Eagles would get one back at the 17:30 mark of the third as
Elle McKenna scored her second goal of the season ripping a slap shot just in front of the blue line to make it a 5-2 game.
Kaitlyn Daly had 39 saves in net for the Eagles.
The two teams will meet again on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at The Rinks At Shelton.
