Lugo Sets School Mark As Men’s Hockey Ties Franklin Pierce

Winchendon, Mass. - Evan Lugo broke a school record in points as the Post University men's hockey team tied with Franklin Pierce, 3-3 on Saturday evening in a Northeast-10 game on Saturday evening.

With Lugo's goal in the third period, he became the school's NCAA leader in points with 67, surpassing Tyler Hackett who previously held the record.

Post jumped out to a two goal lead in the first period. Their first goal came on the power play at the 8:18 mark as John Krapian scored his fifth goal of the season on a redirect off a shot from Patrick Murphy to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead.

The Eagles got their second goal with just over a minute remaining in the first period as on a rush into the zone, Jake Raleigh warded off a defender and popped a shot in the top of the net to put the Eagles up 2-0.

After a scoreless second period the Ravens got on the board with goals from Ryan Gorbett and Conor Foley to tie the game at the 9:00 mark in the third.

Just over two and a half minutes later, Lugo would score his record breaking goal. Raleigh made a pass on from the right side across to Michael Karas who found Lugo at the right post who had an open net to score his fourth goal of the season.

The Ravens (6-11-1, 3-6-1 NE10) tied the game at the 18:50 mark of the third on Foley's second goal of the game.

The Eagles now sit at 6-13-1 overall and 4-8-1 in the NE10.

Brandon Brown had 34 saves in net. Post went 2-for-3 on the power play. It was the second straight game the Eagles had two power play goals.

The two teams will meet again on Sunday at 1 p.m.
