Washington, D.C. - The Post University women's lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season in. 17-7 win over the University of the District of Columbia on Tuesday afternoon.
The win was the first for head coach
Debra Delfino.
Cara DiStefano and Morgan Casssiliano each led the Eagles with four goals, while
Molly Dobratz had three.
After falling behind 1-0 early,
Gabrielle Fiora got the Eagles on the board at the 12:10 mark totie the game, 1-1.
The Firebirds scored the next three before
Leeana Grandel scored her first of the year. Cassiliano scored her first goal of the game with one second remaining as UDC led 5-3 after the first.
Post erupted for 11 goals in the second as DiStefano scored all four of her goals in the quarter. Dobratz scored twice and Cssiliano scored three times in the frame as the Eagles led 14-6 at halftime.
Athlyn Wood picked up her first goal of the season and Fiora notched her second of the game as well.
Post tacked on three more goals in the second half, including the first two of the career for
Samantha Targonski.
Christina Badaracco had five saves in net for the Eagles.
Up next, the Eagles head to Saint Thomas Aquinas on Feb. 25 for a 3 p.m. road game.
