Men’s Hockey Scores Early, But Drops NE10 Game To Franklin Pierce

Winchendon, Ma. – Ryan Cardow scored just 20 seconds into the game, but the Post University men's hockey team lost a 6-2 game to Franklin Pierce on Saturday evening in Northeast-10 Conference action.

Cardow's goal came on an offensive rush by the Eagles as Patrick Murphy passed it to Jacob Howell, whose shot went off the pipe, back to Cardow who was in front of the net. Cardow put the puck in the open net for his third goal of the season.

The Ravens answered with two of their own in the first period, including one from Conor Foley with 25 seconds remaining as they took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

Franklin Pierce scored three more goals in the second, two of which came seven seconds apart. The Eagles got one back on a power play goal from Trey Deloury, who scored his third of the season. On the goal, Niko Grollman and Deloury passed the puck back and forth before Deloury took a shot from the point past goaltender, Kyle Martin.

Drew Blodgett and Benjamin Cunneen combined for 23 saves on the day.

Post finished with 33 shots on goal, with Matteo Peca leading the Eagles with five. Post also won the faceoff battle, as Connor Murray went 13-6 on the draws and Grollman went 11-10.

Foley and Matt Horan finished with a goal and two assists each for the Ravens. Devin Rohrich scored twice.

Up next, the Eagles travel to New Haven, CT to take on Albertus Magnus on Dec. 6 at 4 p.m.
