Men’s Soccer Rallies For Three Goals In Second Half, Defeats Wilmington In CACC Semifinals

Philadelphia, Pa. – The Post University men's soccer team reached its fourth consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) championship game, rallying from a two-goal halftime deficit to defeat Wilmington, 3-2 in the CACC Semifinals.

The Eagles will now face No. 6 Alliance at 11 a.m. on Sunday. Alliance defeated Holy Family in penalty kicks, 5-3 after being tied 1-1 after the second overtime.

Post will be looking for its fifth title in program history and fourth straight.

Down 2-0 with just 20 minutes left in the game, the Eagles got on the board as All-CACC First Team member Sergio Sanchez scored on a free kick in the 70th minute to put the Eagles on the board and cutting their deficit in half. It was his third goal of the season for Sanchez and second goal in the CACC Tournament.

Ten minutes later Omar Florindo picked the best time to score his first career goal, putting a ball in off his chest on a corner kick from Carles Aliberch, tying the game at 2-2

However, the moment of the match came in the 86th minute, when Pablo Tenorio attempted a cross that was deflected back to him. He proceeded another attempt, finding Andrea Berti in front of the net who scored his second goal of the season as the team piled on him in the corner in celebration.

Post was able to hold off Wilmington the final four minutes of the game, sending them to the CACC Championship.

The Wildcats got on the board in the fourth minute on a goal by Pol Romero on a header off of a cross. Romero scored a second goal in the 29th minute.

Soren Jensen won his ninth game of the season and is now 9-0-2 in net. He stopped a season-high five shots on the day.

Post outshot Wilmington, 17-14, as Sanchez, Aliberch and Florindo leading the way with three apiece.

This is the 11th straight CACC Tournament win for the Eagles, adding on to their program record.
