Waltham, MA. - The Post University men's basketball team lost an 81-68 game to Bentley in a non-conference game on Sunday evening.
Isaiah Holmes led the Eagles with a season-high 19 points, while
Abdul-Basit Ajia had 14 points and
D.J. Frechette had 11.
Post took a brief 3-2 lead after a three-point play from Ajia before the Falcons went on a 12-2 run to take a 14-5 lead.
Bentley (5-1) took a 24-15 lead at the 7:13 mark on a three from Isaac Martin, but the Eagles went on a 7-2 run, including a three from
David Jasson, as the Eagles trailed just 26-22 with 5:11 remaining. The Falcons led by as much as 11 on two different occasions in the half before taking a 37-30 lead into the half.
The Eagles (3-3) got hot to kick off the second half, going on a 16-4 run to take a 46-41 lead at the 15:21 mark. Post made eight of its first nine shots of the half, including six straight from Holmes to begin the run.
Bentley – tied for first in the latest Division II Commissioners' Conference Association East Region Rankings, and 19
th in the country - regained the lead less than two minutes later on a three from Aaron Latham and would take a 53-46 lead after another three from Latham with 12:35 remaining. Post knocked down the deficit to five points multiple times in the second half but were unable to get any closer as the Falcons finished the last six minutes on a 15-7 run.
Ajia and
Harrison Warnock finished tied for a team-high seven rebounds.
Post had 11 second chance points in the game and led Bentley in points in the paint with a 44-40 edge.
Quest Harris and Jasson scored six and five points, respectively off the bench.
Zach Laput finished with 23 points to lead Bentley. Latham had 14 and Mason Webb had 18.
The Eagles open up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at home against Bridgeport at 7:30 p.m.
