Shelton, CT - The Post University women's hockey team held a one goal lead after the first period, but lost to Sacred Heart, 3-1 at The Rinks at Shelton on Tuesday afternoon.
After a near scoreless first period, the Eagles got on the board at the 19:17 mark of the first period when
Sheridan Terrazzano intercepted a puck along the boards and put it past Sacred Heart goaltender Molly Elmore to put the Eagles up 1-0. It was Terrazzano's fourth goal of the season.
The Pioneers wouldn't get on the board until the 16:01 mark of the second period after a power play goal from Nicole Guidi.
The teams were tied going into the third and remained scoreless until the 16:43 mark of the third when Sophie Lupone deflected in a shot from Olivia Laroche to make it a 2-1 Pioneers lead. Just 30 seconds later, Katie Keenan would get credited for a goal after a shot that was stopped by goaltender
Grace Glasrud was attempting to be cleared was deflected in off a defender, making it a 3-1 game.
Up next, the Eagles will take on Syracuse in a weekend series on Nov. 25 at 3 p.m. and Nov. 26 at 2 p.m.
