Shelton, CT - The Post University men's hockey team lost a 3-2 game to Assumption University in a rematch of the 2021-2022 Northeast-10 (NE10) Championship on Friday evening at The Rinks at Shelton
The Eagles are now 3-3 overall and 2-3 in the NE10, while the Greyhounds are 4-3 and 3-2 in the NE10.
Entering the third period, the Eagles trailed 3-0, but quickly got on the board as Patrick Murphy picked up a loose puck off of a shot from Trey Deloury and scored his second goal of the season - this one on a power play - to make it a 3-1 game at the 2:35 mark in the third.
At the 7:30 mark, Jacob Howell scored his second goal of the season from Ryan Cardow slamming home a loose puck, making it a 3-2 game. Howell has now scored in two straight games. The Eagles were unable to get another through the rest of the period.
The Greyhounds scored two goals in the first, one from William Smith and one from Ronny Paragallo on a power play. Camron Roberts added one in the second to make it a 3-0 game at the time.
Cardow had two assists on the day and three assists on the season, all coming in the last two games.
Post won 40 of the 67 faceoffs, with Brandon Crowther going 13-5 on the draw. Benjamin Cuneen had 41 saves on the day, including 17 in the second period.
The Eagles are back at it again on Saturday, taking on Stonehill at 2:45 p.m. in a NE10 game.
