Shelton, CT - The Post University men's hockey team scored three goals in the first period en route to a 6-2 win over Framingham State University on Tuesday evening.
With the win, the Eagles move to 3-2 on the season.
Connor Barter had two goals on the day with an assist, while Nick Weber and Patrick Murphy both had a goal and an assist
The scoring started early in the first period as Murphy scored at the 2:52 mark on a power play, taking a centering pass from Weber in front of the net, to put Post up, 1-0. It was Murphy's first goal of the season.
Less than three minutes later, Barter scored his first goal of the game, finding a loose puck in front of the net in a crowd of players and put it into the open net to make it 2-0, for the second power play goal of the game.
Jacob Howell scored his first goal of his career, stealing a puck at the blue line and raced down the ice, ripping a sot past Framingham State goaltender, Trevor Stenberg to make it a 3-0 game.
The Rams added a goal and the Eagles took a 3-1 lead into the first intermission.
Niko Grollman scored his fourth goal of the season taking a centering pass from Barter, missing his first shot in front of the net, but slamming it home between Stenberg's legs to make it a 4-1 game.
Barter scored his second goal of the game just 46 seconds into the third going on a 2-oj-1 break with Chase Lapwoth. Lapworth fed the puck to Barter, who faked right and scored on a backhand to make it a 5-1 game.
After the Rams got one back, Weber scored his fourth goal of the season at 16:08 in the third on a breakaway to put the game away for the Eagles.
Weber is now tied for second in the Northeast-10 (NE10) with eight points with four goals and four assists on the sesaon.
Drew Blodgett had 23 saves for the Eagles.
Up next, the Eagles get back into NE10 play with a rematch of the 2022 NE10 Championship game against Assumption at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18 at The Rinks at Shelton.
