Hooksett, N.H. Niko Grollman scored two goals and Tommy Buis scored a goal just before the end of the first period as the Post University men's hockey team defeated Southern New Hampshire University, 4-3 on Saturday evening in a Norhteast-10 game.
Post is now 2-2 overall and in the NE-10.
The Eagles got on the board at the end of the first period on the power play as Tommy Buis took a pass from Nick Weber just in front of the net and hit a slap shot with six seconds remaining to give Post the 1-0 lead just before the first intermission.
Grollman's goals came just 19 seconds apart in the second period. First, he won a faceoff in the circle on the right side of the net, and took a shot that went past SNHU goaltender Adam Mercer. It was the second time this season Grollman scored right off of the faceoff. At the 7:55 mark, Grollman scored his second after Jacob Howell stole the puck, raced down ice and passed it to Grollman's whose first attempt was stopped. However, he grabbed the loose puck off the rebound and put it in to put the Eagles up, 3-0.
The Penmen got on the board with a power play goal at the 13:32 mark, but the Eagles responded with a second power play goal of their own as Brandon Crowther put in a rebound off a shot from Weber, making it a 4-1 game.
SNHU attempted a comeback, scoring two power play goals in the third from George Thurston and Ryan Pomposelli, but the Eagles were able to hold off the Penmen over the final 3:35.
Benjamin Cuneen got his first win of his career in net, stopping 47 shots, including 17 in the third. The Eagles had 41 shots
on net, with Weber and Trey DeLoury leading the way with six apiece.
