Weber Scores Twice, But Men's Hockey Loses To SNHU

Hooksett, New Hampshire - Nick Weber scored his first two goals of his career, but the Post University men's hockey team lost 4-3 to Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) on Friday evening in a Northeast-10 game.

Weber got the Eagles on the board early, crossing the blue line and ripping a slap shot that split two defenders and over the right shoulder of SNHU goaltender Adam Mercer to make it a 1-0 Eagles lead.

The Penmen tied the game on a goal from Zachary Smith in the final minute of the period to tie the game at 1-1 going into the first intermission.

Weber scored his second goal on a power play at the 9:38 mark in the second period, After a shot from Patrick Murphy rebounded back to him, he passed the puck to Weber, who had a wide open right side of the net and took a one-timer to make it a 2-1 Post lead. Once again, SNHU tied the game in the final minute of the period by Matt Amarante, tying the game 2-2 heading into the third.

The Penmen took the lead 2:41 into the third before the Eagles rebounded with a goal from Connor Murray as Michael Karas fed him between multiple defenders and Murray had an open net to score his first of the season.

SNHU, however, took the lead just over two minutes later at the 10:09 mark as Amante scored his second of the game to give the Penmen the 4-3 advantage.

Drew Blodgett had 26 saves in net for the Eagles. The Eagles had 41 shots, with Weber leading the team with nine.

Adam Mercer had 38 saves for SNHU.

The two teams meet again on Saturday at 3:10 p.m.
