Bridgewater, Mass. – The Post University women's hockey team scored twice in the third period, but their comeback effort fell short in a 4-2 loss to Stonehill in a New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) game on Saturday afternoon.
Post is now 1-4-0 overall and in NEWHA. Stonehill is 2-2 and 2-0-0 in NEWHA.
Down 4-0 in the third, the Eagles got on the board at the 7:52 mark on a power play, as
Jenna Abeyta ripped a wrist shot just in front of the blue line for her first of the season and 24
th of her career.
The Eagles added one more goal in with 18 seconds remaining as
Kiersten Browning scored her fourth of the season. Browning has scored a goal in four of the first five games of the season for the Eagles.
Stonehill scored three power play goals on the day, including two in the second period from Paige Whaley and Gracie Sacca. They'd add one more goal – of the shorthand variety – in the third.
Post had 19 shots on the day, led by
Sheridan Terrazzano with four.
Grace Glasrud had 22 saves in net for the Eagles.
Post returns to action on Tuesday, October 11 at 1 p.m. against Sacred Heart.
