Shelton, CT – The Post University women's hockey team lost a 7-1 New England Women's Hockey Association (NEWHA) to Sacred Heart University on Tuesday afternoon at The Rinks at Shelton.
The Pioneers scored a goal 3:02 into the game, but Post responded immediately on the following faceoff as
Madeline Noonan scored her second goal of the season, ripping a shot from the slot past the stick of Sacred Heart goaltender, Molly Elmore to make it a 1-1 game.
Sajel Desai and
Kiersten Browning were credited with the assists.
Sacred Heart scored two more times in the period, including a power play goal from Sophie Lupone.
The Pioneers distanced themselves from the Eagles with three goals in the second period, including the first of two by Paige McNeil, who also scored one in the third.
In net,
Hannah Saunders had 29 saves in two periods of work.
Grace Glasrud played the final period notching five saves.
Browning led the Eagles with five shots on goal.
Kelly Solak had a goal and two assists for Sacred Heart.
Up next, the Eagles take on Stonehill on Oct 7-8 on the road. Friday's game begins at 5 p.m., while Saturday's game begins at 1 p.m.
