Women’s Volleyball Gets Second Straight Sweep In Win Over Goldey-Beacom

Waterbury, CT – For the second straight match, the Post University women's volleyball team won in a sweep with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-13) win over Goldey-Beacom on Saturday at the Drubner Center in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match.

The win moves the Eagles to 9-19 overall on the season and 7-10 in the CACC.

Post left set one up to no doubt, taking an early 9-1 lead as Kaitlyn Lemmon had two kills while Madelynn Boop and Datari Mathis each had one. The Eagles didn't let up, going on another 4-0 run to take a 13-3 lead, and scoring five of the last six points of the set as Romero and Keyah Sinclair each had a kill in the final run.

Set two started similarly to the first, jumping out to a 10-3 lead as Sinclair had three blocks and a kill and Mathis had a block and a kill to put the Eagles in prime position to take the second set. The Eagles finished on a 10-2 run, including the final seven to go up 2-0 in the match. Alyssa Groves had three aces in the stretch.

The third set was more competitive at the start as the two teams were tied, 10-10 before the Eagles scored seven straight, including three more aces from Groves to put Post up, 17-10. The Eagles ended the match on an 8-3 run, including two kills from Aniya Goodman and win the match.

Mathis finished with a team-high seven kills, while Lydimar Soto and Madelynn Boop had six. Sinclair had a team-high five kills. Groves had seven aces, Izabella Rae had four and Goodman had three. Groves also added ten digs. Maria Fernanda Branco had 16 assists.

The Eagles are still alive for a possible CACC playoff berth as it closes out its regular season on the road at Alliance University on November 2 at 7 p.m.
