Shelton, CT - The Post University women's hockey team lost a 5-1 New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) match to Long Island University on Friday afternoon at The Rinks at Shelton.
The Eagles are now 1-6 overall and in NEWHA.
Hannah Luckman scored the lone goal in the game for the Eagles on an assist from
Jade Giesbrecht and
Sadie Storm at the 4:49 mark of the third, making it a 4-1 game at the time. Her goal came just 23 seconds after a goal from the Sharks. LIU added one more goal in the third.
The Sharks scored a goal in the first and two in the second. Jeannie Wallner led the Sharks with two goals.
Post had 14 shots on the day, with
Angeline Pitter leading the way with three. Madeline Noonan led Post with seven faceoff wins.
In net, Hannah Saunders had 41 saves, a career-high. She stopped 23 of those shots in the second period.
The two teams meet again on Saturday at LIU (4-6, 3-1 NEWHA) at 2 p.m.
