Men’s Soccer Notches Third Straight Shutout In Win over Jefferson

Waterbury, CT – The Post University men's soccer team won its third straight game, and earned its third straight shutout in a 2-0 win over Jefferson on Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match.

In the blink of an eye, the Eagles got on the board 45 seconds in as Gentian Selimi scored his fourth goal of the season, sifting through the Rams' defense, got himself a clear shot at the top of the box and ripped a goal past Jefferson goalkeeper, Matteo Crescente to put the Post up, 1-0.

The Eagles went into the half with the same lead and scored an insurance goal in the 68th minute, as Francisco Sousa took a shot from the top of the box for his team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Post allowed just four shots on goal, all stopped by Soren Jensen for his fifth shutout of the season.

Post had eight shots on goal as Aritz Uriate Alonso and Sousa led the way with two.

The Eagles are now 11-3-2 on the season and 8-1-2 in the CACC. All 11 wins this season have come via shutout. They've allowed just eight goals all season, and only four in CACC action.

Post can clinch their second consecutive regular season title with a win over Dominican on Wednesday, October 26 on the road, or if Holy Family ties or loses one of its final two games.
