Philadelphia, Pa.– The Post University women's volleyball team lost a 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-20) match to Holy Family on Saturday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.
Post is now 6-17, and 4-8 in the CACC. Holy Family is 13-9 overall and 11-0 in the CACC, leading the CACC South.
Lydimar Soto led the Eagles with six kills to go with an ace.
Kaitlyn Lemmon had four kills and two blocks.
Maria Fernanda Branco had 11 assists and eight digs.
Post took an early 9-8 lead, as two kills each from
Madelynn Boop and
Datari Mathis paced the Eagles. Holy Family scored five straight to take a 13-9 lead. Post got within two at 18-16 after back-to-back errors from the Tigers, but a 5-1 run by the Tigers gave them a 23-17 lead, eventually leading to set one win.
The Tigers had both a 4-0 run and a 5-0 run in set two as the Eagles never led or tied, taking a 2-0 match lead.
Aniya Goodman and Soto each had two kills in the set for the Eagles.
Post took an early 4-3 lead in set three, but the Tigers scored seven straight points, to take a 10-4 lead. The Eagles rallied, cutting the deficit to 14-12 as
Niah Mesidor and Lemmon had two kills during the stretch while, Boop and
Colleen Romero each had one. Holy Family then had an 8-2 run, taking their biggest lead of the set at 22-14, putting the match away.
Boop finished with four kills. Romero and Goodman each had three.
Isabella Mosquera had 13 kills to pace Holy Family. Faith Zehnder had 19 digs.
The Eagles host Bloomfield on Wednesday, October 19 at 7 p.m., the beginning of a two-game homestand.
