Waterbury, CT– The Post University men's soccer team scored early on, and it would be all it needed in a 1-0 win over the Chestnut Hill College Griffins in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field.
Post moves to 9-3-2 overall with the win and 6-1-2 in the CACC, putting the Eagles in second place. Chestnut Hill is now 2-9-4 overall and 1-5-3 in the CACC.
The Eagles got on the board in the sixth minute, as
Davide Mazza split two defenders with a pass on the left side and found
Aritz Uriate Alonso who hit a low shot past Chestnut Hill goalkeeper Eran Shifris who came out of the net to try and stop the shot to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead. It was Alonso's second goal of the season.
Post dominated the pace of play throughout, taking 21 shots, with ten on goal to just two shots on goal – five total – for the Griffins. Mazza and
Gentian Selimi each had four shots for the Eagles.
Soren Jensen had two saves for his fourth shutout of the season. He has allowed just two goals in 495 minutes in net this season.
Post has dominated the series, leading it 10-4-1, and going 5-0-1 in the last two matchups between the teams.
Up next, the Eagles will play a CACC road match at Caldwell at 3 p.m. on October 18.
