Men's Soccer Battles TO Draw With Bridgeport

Waterbury, CT - In their first match together as Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) members, the Post University men's soccer team tied with Bridgeport, 1-1 on Wednesday afternoon in an exciting game at LaMoy Field.

The Eagles are now 8-3-2 overall and 5-1-2 in the CACC.

In a mostly even first half, Bridgeport broke through in the 26th minute, scoring on a penalty kick after a foul in the box by the Eagles.

Post dominated possession in the second half, and finally got on the board in the 64th minute, as Francisco Sousa took a cross from Gentian Selimi in the box and kicked the ball as he slid towards the net to tie the game at 1-1.

The Eagles put relentless pressure on the Purple Knights in the final minutes of the game as three close shots were stopped by Bridgeport goalkeeper Clement Anet while another one hit the Post, all inside the last minute of the game.

Post outshot Bridgeport, 16-9, including 11 in the second half. Seven players had two shots on goals for Post.

Soren Jensen finished with four saves on the day for the Eagles. Anet had seven for Bridgeport.

It was the first meeting between the teams since 2010.

Up next, the Eagles stay at home as they host Chestnut Hill at 2:30 on October 15.
