Women’s Hockey Loses Close Game Against Sacred Heart

Shelton, Conn. – The Post University women's hockey team lost a New England Women's Hockey Alliance game, 3-2 to Sacred Heart on Monday afternoon at The Rinks at Shelton.

After giving up an early goal in the first, Sadie Storm got the Eagles on the board with her fourth goal of the season on a pass from Kiersten Browning at the 10:00 mark to tie the game at 1-1.

The two teams went into the period tied, but it didn't take long for the Eagles to take the lead as Storm and Browning swapped roles. This time, Browning scored off a pass from Storm just 16 seconds into the period to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead, one which they would hold until the third.

The Eagles (5-18, 2-10 NEWHA) held strong over the first half of the third period but the Pioneers would score at the 10:58 mark on Nicole Guidi's sixth goal of the season on a power play. The Pioneers would score the game-winner nine seconds later on the ensuing faceoff as Paige McNeil scored her ninth to give Sacred Heart the 3-2 lead for good.
