Shelton, Conn. – The Post University men's hockey team led in the third period, but fell to Assumption, 6-3 in a Northeast-10 (NE10) game on Monday afternoon at the Rinks at Shelton.
The Eagles took their first lead at the 13:21 mark of the first as
Michael Karas took a shot from beyond center ice that slipped past Assumption goaltender, David Altman to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead, one which they would take into the first intermission. It was the third goal of the season for Karas.
Assumption (9-7-1, 6-3-0 NE10) tied it just 1:49 into the second period, but the tie was short-lived as less than three minutes later,
Connor Barter scored his third goal of the season on a tip-in off a shot from
Brandon Crowther to give Post the 2-1 lead.
The Greyhounds would tie the game again at the 5:59 mark on Dante Maribito's first goal of the game as the two teams were tied 2-2 after the second period.
Post took their final lead of the game at the 7:25 mark of the third as
Kieran Gardner took a shot from between the two faceoff circles off a pass from
Evan Lugo for his fifth goal of the season as Post went up, 3-2.
Assumption would tie the game at the 12:20 mark on a goal from Ronny Paragallo and took the lead exactly two minutes later on a power play goal from Devan Sheth.
Assumption would add two more empty net goals in the final minute.
The Eagles outshot the Greyhounds, 42-40 with Gardner and Karas leading the way with five goals apiece.
Drew Blodgett had 34 saves in net.
