Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men’s Hockey Leads Late, But Lose To Assumption

Shelton, Conn. – The Post University men's hockey team led in the third period, but fell to Assumption, 6-3 in a Northeast-10 (NE10) game on Monday afternoon at the Rinks at Shelton.

The Eagles took their first lead at the 13:21 mark of the first as Michael Karas took a shot from beyond center ice that slipped past Assumption goaltender, David Altman to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead, one which they would take into the first intermission. It was the third goal of the season for Karas.

Assumption (9-7-1, 6-3-0 NE10) tied it just 1:49 into the second period, but the tie was short-lived as less than three minutes later, Connor Barter scored his third goal of the season on a tip-in off a shot from Brandon Crowther to give Post the 2-1 lead.

The Greyhounds would tie the game again at the 5:59 mark on Dante Maribito's first goal of the game as the two teams were tied 2-2 after the second period.

Post took their final lead of the game at the 7:25 mark of the third as Kieran Gardner took a shot from between the two faceoff circles off a pass from Evan Lugo for his fifth goal of the season as Post went up, 3-2.

Assumption would tie the game at the 12:20 mark on a goal from Ronny Paragallo and took the lead exactly two minutes later on a power play goal from Devan Sheth.

Assumption would add two more empty net goals in the final minute.

The Eagles outshot the Greyhounds, 42-40 with Gardner and Karas leading the way with five goals apiece.

Drew Blodgett had 34 saves in net.

Up next, the Eagles host Southern New Hampshire on Tuesday, February 1 at noon at The Rinks at Shelton.
