Shelton, Conn. – The Post University men's hockey team lost a tough 3-2 Northeast-10 game to Assumption in overtime on Friday evening.
The Eagles are now 6-11 on the season and 4-6 in the NE10.
Post jumped out to a 1-0 lead at the 3:50 mark of the first period as
Patrick Murphy scored the first of his two goals skating to the left side of the net, almost and took a wrist shot that got past Assumption goaltender David Altman. It was the third straight game Murphy has scored a goal.
After Assumption responded with two goals in the second to take a 2-1 lead, Murphy tied the game back up as
Brandon Crowther found Murphy on a centering pass who scored while crashing along with a defender into the net at the 18:42 mark of the second. It was Murphy's sixth goal of the season, which leads the team.
A scoreless third sent the game into overtime where the Greyhounds would win on a goal from Dara Conneely.
In net,
Brandon Brown had 29 saves on the night.
Post outshot the Greyhounds, 38-32, with
John Krapian leading the way with seven. Murphy had six.
The two teams are 1-1 against each other this season and will play again on Monday, January 31 at noon at the Rinks at Shelton.
