Shelton, Conn. – The Post University women's hockey team dropped a 4-1 New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) game to Sacred Heart on Friday afternoon at The Rinks at Shelton.
The Eagles are now 5-17-0 on the season and 2-9-0 in NEWHA.
Post's lone goal of the game came at the 16:25 mark in the third period, with the Eagles on a 5-on-3 advantage.
Caisey Van den oetelaar took a pass from
Kiersten Browning, skated a few steps in and ripped a shot top shelf over the shoulders of Sacred Heart goaltender, Frankie Sanchez, making it a 4-1 game.
The goal was Van den oetelaar's first of her career.
The Pioneers scored one goal in the first, two in the second and one more in the third.
Grace Glasrud stopped a season-high 51 shots in net, including 20 in the third period.
The Eagles had 18 shots on goal, including four from
Julia Wysocki.
The two teams will meet again on Monday, January 31 at noon.
