Waterbury, Conn. - The Post University volleyball team won its second straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Thursday night, defeating the Nyack Warriors 3-0 in the Drubner Center.
THE RUNDOWN:
- Madelyn Boop led all players with 13 kills, while Datari Mathis chipped in eight kills in the win. Colleen Romero contributed a match-high 15 assists. The Eagles had 13 aces, paced by five from Lydimar Soto and two each from Kim Buttery, Diaz, and Boop.
- Diaz and Boop each pulled up a team-high 11 digs on the night.
- Ashlyn Couch, Cassady Hymes, and Natalie Piper led Nyack with five kills each. Gabrielle Carbonel ended the night with 15 assists for the Warriors.
- The first set started with Nyack taking the lead out of the gate, scoring the first two points, but Post was able to break a 4-4 deadlock to take the lead on three consecutive aces by Soto. The Eagles continued to build their lead, earning a 25-19 win.
- The Eagles pushed the pace in the second set running ahead to a quick 12-3 lead. Post's largest lead came at the end of the set with the 25-14 win. The second set was the best by the Eagles with the team ending with a .207 hitting percentage, making good on 10 of their 29 attempts.
- The final set was competitive with the two teams trading possession of the lead eight times. A Warrior attacking error handed Post the lead at 22-21, followed by two aces from Buttery and finishing with a kill from Aniya Goodman.
