Down Two Goals Early, Post Men’s Soccer Rallies For Tie Against No. 15 Adelphi In Season Opener

Waterbury, Conn. – In a rematch of the 2019 NCAA second round matchup, the Post University men's soccer team rallied from a two-goal deficit to tie No. 15 Adelphi, 2-2 in their 2021 opening game.

Post fell behind early on goals from Adelphi's Paolo Marciano in the eighth minute and Rodrigo Descalzo Rocca in the 36th minute.

Post rebounded quickly, as two-time All-American Sergio Diaz – on a throw-in – took a touch from Alvaro Sanchez to a one on one shot with goalkeeper Harry Beasley and put it past him to make it a 2-1 game at the 38th minute.

The Panthers took a 2-1 lead into the half, and held that lead until the 66th minute.

Goalkeeper Soren Jensen kicked the ball 65 yards down the field over the head of two Adelphi defenders, into the possession of Diaz who passed it off to senior Alvaro Sanchez who easily put the ball through to tie the game at 2-2.

The game would go into overtime, where Jensen came up big, stopping three shots along the way. Jensen had seven saves on the day.

Post heads to Southern New Hampshire on September 7 to take on the Penmen for a 7 p.m. start time in a non-conference game.
